Editorial standards

These are the rules FilmBunch works to. They apply to every story, the newsletter and our social accounts.

Sourcing

Every factual claim is linked to, or attributed to, its source: official announcements, filings, trade and local reporting, or our own reporting.

We say when figures are estimates, reported by others, or supplied by the company concerned. We distinguish between what has been announced, what has been reported and what has been confirmed.

We credit other publications when we follow their reporting.

News and analysis

Reporting and interpretation are kept apart. Interpretation appears under the heading “Our reading” or in pieces labelled Analysis or Reviews.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly. A correction is added to the end of the story with the date and what was changed. Significant corrections are also noted in the next newsletter.

To report an error, write to us via the Contact page.

Independence

FilmBunch does not accept payment for coverage, and does not run sponsored stories presented as journalism.

Editorial decisions are made by the editors alone. If anyone working on a story has a personal or commercial interest in a company or film covered, we disclose it in the story or they do not work on it.

Accreditation, screeners and press materials from festivals and distributors do not affect what we write.

Images

We use publicity stills, posters and images issued for press use, credited to their source, and only when they relate to the story. Any image generated or substantially altered with AI is labelled as such; see AI tools. Rights holders can ask us to remove an image and we will do so.

Sources and embargoes

We honour embargoes we have agreed to. We grant anonymity only when a source would face real harm otherwise, and we explain in the story why the source is not named.

Ownership

FilmBunch is published by Radical Plans S.r.l.s., a Florence company that also produces films. We do not review or report on films it made, produced or sold. If such a film is unavoidable news, for example in a festival selection, we mention it neutrally and say that it is a Radical Plans film.

AI tools

We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts. Every story is checked, edited and approved by an editor before it is published.

We never publish a quote, figure or fact that we cannot trace to a real source. AI tools are never a source.

If we publish an image, video or audio clip that was generated by AI, or substantially changed with AI, we say so clearly in its caption or credit, for example “Image generated with AI” or “Photo altered with AI”. We do not use AI to show real people saying or doing things they did not, or to recreate real events as if they were photographed.

Corrections and complaints: how we handle them.
