CBS has sealed a new five-year pact that keeps Broadway’s Tony Awards on the network until 2032, Variety, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter reported on 4 November 2026, with TheWrap matching the same day. Counterparties are the American Theatre Wing on one side and The Broadway League on the other. The 80th annual ceremony is dated Sunday 13 June 2027, live from Radio City Music Hall in New York on CBS and on Paramount+ Premium in the United States, Variety says, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
Key facts
- Term: five-year broadcast renewal; CBS carries the show into 2032
- Partners: CBS with American Theatre Wing + Broadway League (via Tony Award Productions)
- Continuity: CBS home since 1978 (48 years); prior renewal in 2017 ran through 2026 (THR)
- Next show: 80th Tony Awards, Sunday 13 June 2027, live coast-to-coast on CBS and Paramount+ Premium
- 2027 producers: Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall and Jack Sussman; Kapoor and Levine Hall co-showrunners; Patrick Menton and Rob Paine co-executive producers (Menton also head of talent)
For network schedulers and Broadway marketers, the renewal settles the Tonys’ linear home just as other major kudocasts have moved. Variety notes that the Grammys, Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmys have all struck fresh deals in recent years that shifted them from long-time networks, leaving the Tonys–CBS link as the longest-running major awards show and network partnership on those terms.
What the statements say
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach called the Tonys “a cornerstone” of the network’s creative-arts history and said she and George Cheeks were extending a 48-year partnership with both Broadway bodies, Variety and Deadline report. Heather Hitchens (American Theatre Wing president and CEO) and Jason Laks (Broadway League president) said in a joint statement that the partners look ahead to marking the 80th anniversary “with our best show yet,” the same outlets quote.
THR places the renewal against Skydance’s ownership of CBS and notes that the producers’ previous CBS pact, struck in 2017, covered broadcasts through 2026. The same report recalls that since 2021 the show has run in two parts, with creative awards in an earlier stream on Paramount-owned platforms. Playbill adds that a Tubi pre-show already sits outside the main CBS feed, and that on-demand viewing on Paramount+ typically opens the day after the live broadcast for all subscribers.
Players and next dates
Tony Award Productions, the joint venture of those two Broadway organisations, produces the ceremony. Kapoor, Levine Hall and Sussman return for 2027 after producing the most recent edition, with Menton and Paine as co-executive producers, Variety and Deadline list. Additional details for the 80th show are due in the coming weeks, Deadline says. No rights fee, option structure or exclusivity carve-outs beyond the broadcast and Paramount+ Premium window were published in the trade reports.

Our reading
For Broadway and CBS, locking five further seasons through the 80th anniversary removes near-term platform risk after peer awards shows shopped new homes. The commercial test is whether the June 2027 live-plus-Paramount+ Premium stack holds audience against streamer-first kudocasts, and whether any fee or window terms surface when the next producer slate and host are named. Until then, the hard facts are the 2032 CBS term and the 13 June 2027 date.
